I inspected this property yesterday, the client has had damp issues for a number of years, it’s a bungalow located in a very exposed Southwest facing, location in Whitworth Lancashire.
The contractor has installed a chemical DPC into a perforated brick, not hitting the mortar bed and the drilling are straight, so the system will have no effect, if the issues were due to rising dampness, ha has also repointed the external wall, which indicates he assume penetrating dampness was also affecting the wall.
Inspection to the internal of the property found evidence of mould to the upper wall area, which was the original problem, so why install a damp proof course.
Cavity wall insulation has been installed, but this was found to be dry by removing a sample.
Remedy address the humidity levels within the property to reduce the risk of condensation.
